As a person who has been known to cut out the crotch of my partner's trousers and burn his underpants, I want to suggest that attention be shifted to the part of the brain known as the fundamentum nitpickians.

This is the part that causes those with an overactive neocortex (specifically, academics) to interpret any spontaneous human behaviour as pathological.
